The Antelope Valley Indian Museum is located in an unusual building in the midst of the towering rock formations of Piute Butte. The large boulders form interior walls while timbers from Joshua trees provide support for the roof.

This folk art structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Five rooms of Indian exhibits are now open for viewing. A number of artifacts on display are rare or one-of-a-kind items.

A Touch Table provides hands-on experience activities typical of Indian life. There is a self-guided Nature Trail; and a gift shop offering authentic Native American arts, crafts, and literature.

The museum is located 17 miles east of State Highway 14 (the Antelope Valley Freeway) on Avenue M, between 150th and 170th Streets East. From the Antelope Valley Freeway go east on either Palmdale Boulevard or Avenue K. From the Pearblossom Highway, turn north on 165th Street East.
